ASTM F-1292 (Standard Specification for Impact Attenuation of Surface Systems Under and Around Playground Equipment) is the industry standard for assessing playground safety. An 11 lb hemispherical missile, simulating a head impact, is dropped from various heights to determine the ‘critical’ height of the surface.
